Cochineal Color Block/Stripe Wool Tapete | Woven by Ludivina & Faustino
The Cochineal Color Block/Stripe Handwoven Wool Tapete: woven on a hand operated standing loom by a family of master weavers, Ludivina & Faustino, in Teotitlán del Valle, Oaxaca. 100% naturally dyed cochineal, indigo, black and natural wool fibers were used to weave this stunning piece.
NOTE: Pre-order only. Please allow 8-weeks from order date to delivery. Measures 2.5 x 5 feet including fringe. The natural scarlet dye used in this pattern was made by harvesting cochineal from cacti in the genus Oputia, which produces carmine resulting in striking color variations. Due to the nature of the plant-based dyes used in weaving this tapete, variations will result in each one of a kind piece. No two tapetes off the loom will ever be exactly alike. Custom sizes available, for inquires email: jane@augustetta.com.
